SOURCES AND LIMITS

Evidence and limitations behind Freedom’s resources

Useful guidance should make its source and its limits easy to see. A method can have a research basis without proving that a particular app produces a particular outcome.

What the evidence does and does not establish

Freedom brings together tracking, educational content, exercises and opportunities for support. We do not claim that the Freedom app has been clinically validated or that it achieves a measured treatment success rate.

A public health source can support a general strategy such as keeping track of drinking or planning for triggers. It cannot establish how effective our version of a tool will be for an individual.

General guidance, app use and the claim boundary
Method What the source supports How to interpret it in Freedom
Tracking and goals NIAAA recommends keeping track, counting drinks and setting goals as strategies for changing drinking. [1] The calendar can help you review your own records. A streak is not a clinical measure.
Planning for urges NIAAA describes recognizing triggers, avoiding some situations and preparing coping responses. [2] Use a plan and an exercise as practical tools. No exercise guarantees that an urge stops.
Support from others Mutual-support groups can be part of the available support for alcohol problems. [3] Peer stories offer experience and connection. They do not establish the safety of a medical decision.
Professional treatment Treatment options include behavioral care and medications, selected with qualified providers. [3] Freedom’s educational content and mentor messaging are not substitutes for clinical treatment.

What our numbers mean

An alcohol-free day counter measures elapsed time. A health checkpoint marks time to review a subject. Neither measures healing inside your body. Savings estimates apply a stated formula to your spending assumptions; they do not predict changes to your income or every cost of alcohol.

The “9 out of 10 people recommend the app” statement is based on feedback from the program’s first testers. It is a recommendation metric, not a recovery rate, clinical result or statement about every user.

Personal stories are personal

Our testimonials describe the speakers’ own experiences. We preserve their words and attribution rather than rewriting them into universal promises.

A story about sleep, a craving or money saved is not a controlled comparison. It cannot tell you how likely the same result is for you or what would have happened without the app.

How to use our references

Sources appear alongside the relevant sections and are collected at the end of each guide. Check the population, type of advice and limits before applying a result to your own circumstances.

The organizations we cite have not endorsed Freedom by being cited here. If you need help assessing alcohol-related symptoms or treatment options, consult a qualified professional.

Common questions

Has Freedom been clinically proven to treat alcohol use disorder?

We do not claim clinical validation of Freedom or a measured treatment success rate. General evidence about a method is separate from evidence about this app.

Does 9 out of 10 mean a 90% success rate?

No. It describes recommendations from the program’s first testers, not sobriety, recovery or clinical outcomes.

Do cited organizations endorse Freedom?

No. A citation identifies a source for information; it is not an endorsement or partnership.
