How Much Money Can You Save by Quitting Alcohol?

Cutting out $50 of alcohol purchases each week frees up about $216.67 a month and $2,600 a year. Start with your own drinks to see the money you could put toward something you want.

Choose your country and enter your usual weekly bottles or cans. This calculator uses the same drink sizes and local reference prices as Freedom app. If you are cutting back, enter just the drinks you plan to stop buying.

How the Alcohol Savings Formula Works

Weekly alcohol savings = the sum of each drink quantity you stop buying × its reference price. For multipacks, the calculator converts your individual cans or bottles into the corresponding pack quantity.

Monthly alcohol savings = weekly savings × 52 ÷ 12. Yearly alcohol savings = weekly savings × 52. Final totals are rounded to the nearest cent.

The web calculator and mobile app use the same versioned catalogue of retailer-informed reference prices. Each country has a basket with defined bottle or can sizes and pack quantities; your entries use those purchase units and assume the same weekly pattern throughout the estimate.

How to Turn Your Alcohol Savings Into Real Goals

After one month at $50 a week, you have $216.67 to put toward new headphones, a weekend away or paying down your credit card. After one year, $2,600 can make a bigger contribution to a trip, new equipment or your emergency fund.

Choose a goal you care about and give it a target amount. In Freedom app, you can name that goal, watch your savings progress and mark it as achieved. Your daily check-ins connect the number to the choices you make.

Alcohol Savings Questions

How much money does the average person save by quitting alcohol?

Your weekly spending is the best starting point: cutting out $50 a week frees up about $216.67 a month or $2,600 a year. At $25 a week, the annual total is $1,300; at $100 a week, it is $5,200. Use your own drink quantities above to see your potential savings.

How does Freedom app calculate my alcohol savings automatically?

Freedom app builds a spending baseline from your weekly drink quantities and country-specific reference prices, then uses your daily check-ins to estimate savings. For quit or break goals, it also estimates savings from your declared alcohol-free start until a reported drinking day ends that assumption.

Can I set specific financial savings goals in Freedom app?

Yes. Name your goal, set a target amount and choose a symbol. Freedom app shows your progress toward that target, and you can edit your goal or mark it as achieved.

Does Freedom app track daily savings or only weekly estimates?

Freedom app tracks estimated savings day by day. A completed alcohol-free day adds one-seventh of your weekly baseline; a drinking day adds no savings. After a drinking day ends the start-date estimate, days without a check-in stay unknown. The Progress chart shows how your savings build over time.
